ASR September 2008 – Going Green Before Green Was Cool

Another brand we back at ASR is IPATH.  The short story there is that since 1999, they’ve been humbly green, using materials such as hemp, organic cotton and ramie in footwear and clothing.  We’ll be showing the new Bob Burnquist sneaker as well as screening “Walk Like A Warrior,” which chronicles the birth of Native American skateboard brand Apache (for which IPATH also release a shoe, t-shirt and fitted hat).

IPATH Brings New Styles and Eco-Friendly Offerings to ASR September

IPATH, the brand that pioneered the use of alternative and eco-friendly materials in skate footwear during the late 90’s, will continue its humbly green mission by bringing new styles and classic offerings to September’s ASR show at booth #3227.  In addition, IPATH team riders Kenny Reed, Matt Rodriguez, Adam Alfaro, Bob Burnquist and Fred Gall will be making their way through IPATH’s booth to talk about recent trips and new things they have going on.

Bob Burnquist joined the IPATH ranks late in 2007 and his first signature shoe will be front and center at the IPATH booth.  An entirely new high-top created to Bob’s exact specifications, the new Burnquist is available in both full-hemp and other construction options.  Bob’s original pro-model shoe on IPATH, the hemp Grasshopper, will be on display as well.

Joining the new Burnquist pro-model will be updated styles from long-time IPATH supporters Fred Gall and Kenny Reed.  Fred’s signature mid-top will be offered in a mix of new constructions, including hemp and denim.  Kenny’s shoe has been updated as well, offered in hemp, synthetic leather and other constructions.

The pro-model sneakers will be joined by other new additions to the IPATH lineup.  The Nu is a low-top available in both light-colored hemp and a signature green/black Jack Sabback colorway.  The mid-top Santoor is another new addition to the fold, mixing the style of a low-top skate shoe with the extra support and padding of a mid-top.

Returning to the IPATH fold are staples such as the Centennial, Cats, Grasshopper and Locust, in addition to a collection of organic cotton clothing and accessories.

All of IPATH’s upcoming product line will be shown at booth #3227 during ASR, September 4-6.  Members of the media interested in a preview can contact Bill Byrne at For more information on IPATH and its family of riders, visit
