Bad PR: Who gets your press releases?

In a world where PR spamming is continually being called out in the media, it continues to blow our collective minds when we get added (as a PR firm no less) to random distribution lists by independent publicists.  This seems to happen more and more lately, especially with tech and action sports PR people.

It’s one thing when Reef adds us to a distribution list… we work with them regularly because of project BLUE.  It’s another thing when we start getting PR blasts because a snowboard association or clothing brand have a new product.  Why would that be sent to us?  Is it just to keep us in the loop?

Question:  Are we off on this or being a little harsh?  We’d love to hear your thoughts.
